Harriett Seager

Harriett offers integrative counselling and psychotherapy at ICOM. She works with adults and young people aged 12 and over, supporting people with a wide range of emotional, psychological and relational difficulties.
Harriett has an MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Roehampton and is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She also has a BSc in Psychology and a long-standing background in medical and mental health journalism.
As an integrative psychotherapist, Harriett draws on a range of therapeutic approaches, including person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), as well as existential therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). This allows her to adapt the way she works to the individual, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
Harriett also offers therapeutic support groups, including one for women navigating life after divorce. Please enquire about other groups, which may be developed where there is enough interest. Upcoming groups include one for teenagers struggling with anxiety and one for women in midlife experiencing difficulties with life transitions.
Harriett aims to provide a warm, thoughtful and down-to-earth space where you can speak openly, explore what is troubling you and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. She believes that finding the right therapist is an important part of therapy and offers a free initial 20-minute consultation to discuss what you are looking for and whether working together might be a good fit.
Areas Harriett can help with include anxiety, depression, OCD, panic attacks, health anxiety, social anxiety, low self-esteem, grief and bereavement, relationship difficulties, family difficulties, divorce and separation, life transitions, stress and burnout, trauma, childhood trauma, emotional overwhelm, loneliness, identity issues, ADHD, autism, neurodivergence, parenting difficulties, school or university stress, work-related stress, perfectionism, rumination, body image concerns, disordered eating, phobias, low confidence, and feeling stuck or lost.
