Kathryn Rathouse

Kathryn works with Chinese massage (tui na) and heat (moxa). These therapies have been used alongside acupuncture, for thousands of years, by patients with a wide range of health issues. Kathryn’s patients have reported less pain, more energy, better sleep, settled emotions, and more comfortable breathing and digestion.
While Kathryn treats patients with various health issues, she specialises particularly in pain. She has worked with patients with both new and persistent pain, including fibromyalgia; osteoarthritis; pain following injuries and surgery; and tension-related jaw, shoulder, and back pain. Alongside her training in complementary therapies, she has a MSc in Clinical Management of Pain from Edinburgh Medical School.
Chinese massage (tui na) and heat (moxa) therapies can be applied in many different ways. Kathryn focuses on gentle, comforting, rhythmic methods. Patients describe her treatments as profoundly relaxing. They are often surprised at how effective such gentle methods can be.
Kathryn is passionate about helping patients to feel more in control of their health. This includes sharing quick simple techniques that patients can use themselves at home if they wish.
Because the therapies Kathryn uses are new to many people, she is currently offering 30-minute ‘taster’ sessions for anyone who is curious to try and see what they feel like. Why not come along for the chance to relax or boost your energy, and to see whether tui na and moxa therapies are right for you? Full treatments are normally 60 minutes, and 90-minute sessions are available when needed.
My treatments with Kathryn have been profoundly relaxing and have helped to relieve aches and pains. Kathryn has a natural ability to make you feel at ease and there is something deeply comforting about her approach. I think she has a real gift and I highly recommend her.
