Shiatsu with Emily Thomas

My name is Emily and I’ve been offering Shiatsu for over 15 years. I trained at the British School of Shiatsu-Do, with further study in women’s health, pregnancy, Shonishin and Baby Shiatsu with Karen Kalbantner-Wernicke, Thomas Wernicke and Suzanne Yates amongst others. Shiatsu supports physical and emotional well-being, helping to ease tension, restore balance, and support you through life’s transitions whether you’re new to holistic healing or already on a deeper path.
Healing, to me, is about connection to your body, breath, and inner wisdom.
I offer attuned, present, and compassionate support, working with you fully clothed, on a futon on the floor, in a calm and quiet space where you can relax and be heard.
I see healing as a journey across four interconnected levels: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. In our sessions, we may gently explore how tension in the body connects to unspoken feelings, long-held patterns, or a sense of disconnection from your deeper self. I may draw on Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qigong, tuning forks, simple food suggestions, or handmade plant essences created in rhythm with the moon and seasons to support your constitution. These are offered quietly, only when they feel right for you.
I’m deeply connected to nature, the moon’s cycles, and the rhythms of the seasons, and I study astrology as a lens for understanding personal patterns and timing. It supports my awareness of energetic shifts, helping me hold space with greater sensitivity.
I teach weekly Qigong classes a practice rooted in mindful breathwork and flowing movement to help cultivate energy, awareness, and resilience. I also offer seasonal Qigong workshops that follow the Five Elements and animal forms, supporting alignment with nature’s rhythms.
An aspect of my work is Baby Shiatsu-Yogahome, a four-week course for mothers, carers, and babies. Through gentle touch, movement, and connection, we build confidence and simple, effective tools to empower parents and strengthen the parent-baby bond.
I’m a lifelong student of healing, still learning every day from my teachers, my body, and the people I work with.
I don’t have all the answers, but I’m deeply curious, and I hold space for yours too.
As a mother of three, I understand how stress and burnout can quietly take over when you’re focused on caring for others. Through Shiatsu I support people through life’s transitions, whether it’s parenting, loss, or simply feeling out of sync and in need of physical connection.
So with that said, I look forward to meeting you on the mat…
